A community focused social pipe band based in Brisbane, promoting Irish and other Celtic cultures through lively traditional and contemporary performances.

The Queensland Irish Association Pipe Band (QIAPB) is a social band of pipers and drummers from a range of backgrounds, nationalities and levels of experience. The band plays under Pipe Major Bruce Grice and wears the Ancient Urquhart tartan as part of its iconic green uniform.

QIAPB promotes Irish and other Celtic cultures through music. Its lively community performances mix traditional and contemporary music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Asturias and Australia, with modern music also included in the repertoire.

The band reports around 40 active, supporting and playing members, with learners coming through the ranks.

Based in Brisbane, QIAPB regularly travels to events such as the Australian Celtic Festival at Glen Innes and the Maclean Highland Gathering. It has also travelled to France for the Festival Interceltique de Lorient.

Experienced pipers and drummers are welcome to contact the band about joining. General band practice takes place on Tuesday nights at 177 Bennets Rd, Norman Park.

QIAPB also offers Monday night lessons for learners who intend to join the band. Learner nights are held at a venue on Montague Rd, West End. Contact the band through its website to confirm current venues, times and joining arrangements.
