The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes & Drums was formed following the tragic death of New Hampshire State Police Sgt. James Noyes. Sgt. Noyes was shot and killed in October 1994, during a stand off with an armed barricaded subject. After the Boston Police Gaelic Column played at the funeral, a search was initiated for potential players to start a New Hampshire Police Pipe Band.

The New Hampshire School of Scottish Arts Pipes and Drums Band was formed in 2002. The band’s musical director is P/M Gordon Webster, former piper to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The band consists of players from the New England area and has quickly established itself as a dominant musical force within the Northeast. A second band has been formed at Grade 5 level for pipers and drummers not quite ready to jump into the Grade 4 Band. In total the two bands have over 70 members.
