History

The band began as Desert Skye Pipes and Drums in 1999, founded by Daniel Packer in Las Vegas, Nevada. Its original membership comprised two pipers and one drummer with mismatched kilts and equipment. The band adopted civilian dress from the outset.

In 2001, a band member developed the Nevada State tartan, pursued its official recognition through legislation and registered it with the Lord Lyon in Scotland. Desert Skye subsequently adopted Nevada State tartan kilts.

The band adopted a Las Vegas skyline logo in 2013 and formally changed its name to Las Vegas Pipe Band in 2014. Its performances have included Fremont Street, a concert with the Chieftains at the Smith Center, and events on and off the Las Vegas Strip.

The band’s history identifies Andrew Fusco as Pipe Major and describes growth to more than thirty members, including Grade 4 and Grade 5 competition bands and competitive soloists. These details reflect the band’s published history; contact the band for its current roster and competition grades.

The organisation welcomes participants of all levels and relies on community and business support to sustain its teaching, performance and competition programmes.
