Drum and bagpipe music group “Auļi” was founded in 2003 with the aim of actively nurturing and developing bagpipe and drum music in Latvia. 6 pipers, a double bass player and 3 drummers create a strong and positive charge of energy on stage, which captivates every listener, involving and inviting them along in the galloping rhythms.

A code of rules was decided on for the running of the contests, a panel of competent adjudicators appointed along with an administrative structure to co-ordinate all the facets. The Pipe Band Association soon won the acclaim of all progressive bands. A new harmony now emerged and with it the SPBA prospered.

Competing all over the UK at Juvenile and Novice Juvenile level, the Pipes and Drums are now one of the most successful teaching establishments in the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. They are current World Champions in the Juvenile grade. They have also won the Champion of Champions award on numerous occasions.

The SJI Pipe Band was founded by Bro Jason Blaikie, FSC in 2002 as a bagpipes section within the SJI Military Band. The Pipes Section followed the model of the St Xavier’s Institution Corps of Pipes and Drums in Penang, Malaysia.
