The Stuart Highlanders Pipe Band has been a mainstay of Silicon Valley, playing for Scottish games, bagpiping competitions, college graduation ceremonies, and private events for over 60 years.
L.A. scots
The Los Angeles Scottish Pipe Band was founded in 1961 by Pipe Major Jimmy Thompson, Pipe Sergeant Ian MacDonald and Drum Sergeant Charlie Capperauld. The band found success throughout the 1960s and 1970s, reaching today’s equivalent of Grade 1 and competing until 1974.

The Band competes in Grade 4 and currently has over 20 playing members. Children and adults are welcome to become a part of this non-profit educational group. Piping and drumming instruction is available privately at a nominal cost to Band members and beginners.
