The Hong Kong Police Band consists of both a Silver Band with 60 musicians and a Pipe Band with a strength of 24. The Police Band is commanded by the Director of Music, Superintendent, with the aid of Chief Inspector, Deputy Director of Music and Senior Inspector, Bandmaster. They are responsible to the Head of the Foundation Training Centre, Police College, Senior Superintendent who is also the officio President of the Band. The Band is based in purpose built accommodation, Peter Moor Building, in the Aberdeen Campus of Police College. It consists of barrack rooms, practice rooms, offices and storage facilities.

African Skye SA
The African Skye Pipe Band was officially formed in January 1998, by a number of pipers and drummers who had left the Witwatersrand Rifles Pipe Band in September the previous year. Between September and November 1997, these committed musicians used to meet at Rory Bellingan’s house at 145 Queen Street, Kensington, Johannesburg, to practice and debate a name and tartan for the new band. In November 1997, Rory moved to 333 Highland Road, Kensington and this weekly ritual continued there.

By the late 1990s, the number of pipe bands in South America had reached six (three in Buenos Aires, two in Montevideo, and one in Sao Paulo). In spite of the distance between pipe band hosting cities, the contact between pipe bands became frequent, and the ideas of pipe band events were also strongly supporting the need for a pipe band association.
