NJSP Pipes and Drums of the Blue and Gold Seeks Pipers and Drummers

New Jersey, United States

The New Jersey State Police Pipes and Drums of the Blue and Gold is seeking pipers and drummers, with its recruitment announcement starting November 3, 2026. The recruitment poster states that no experience is needed and asks interested people to contact a member of the band.

Music in service of others

The band’s mission centers on honoring fallen comrades at line-of-duty funerals, supporting their families and serving the ceremonial needs of the New Jersey State Police. It also performs at charitable events.

Founded in 1986 by Detective Sergeant First Class Joseph Keely, the band made its official debut at Trenton’s 1987 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Its history describes a membership drawn from active and retired New Jersey State Troopers. Interested applicants should confirm eligibility directly with the band; the announcement does not establish an open-to-all membership policy.
