Grand Rapids Police PB, a Grade 5 pipe band based in Grand Rapids, MI.

A Legacy of Pride, Professionalism and Commitment to Service

Originally formed in 2002 as the Muskegon Police Pipes and Drums, the band expanded as members from various agencies joined the band, along with a diverse range of members from across the community, becoming the Muskegon Regional Police Pipes and Drums.

In 2024, with the majority of the members from Grand Rapids, and with the interest and engagement of leaders from the city, the band moved our new official “home” to Grand Rapids.

We support Police and Fire departments and Veterans Groups across West Michigan. The band plays for a variety of service related functions, from promotion, retirement and community involvement including.

We also performing at parades, festivals and other events across all of Michigan. The band receives no public funds from the State, City or County and receives no financial support from the Grand Rapids Police Department or any other law-enforcement agency.

Join

Membership in the band is open to anyone in the community interested in playing bagpipes or snare, tenor or bass drum. You do not need to be a law enforcement officer or firefighter to be a member.

People with an interest in playing with the band are encouraged to join us at a practice. We welcome all level of players, from beginners to experienced players who wish to improve on their chosen instrument.

Reach out to our Band Manager Pete Walen about checking out a practice or joining us. He can answer questions about joining the band and what the requirements are to perform with the band.

We practice during the week on Thursday nights at The Vine Church, 3950 Leonard St NW in Grand Rapids. We also practice two Saturdays a month at St Isidore’s School, 625 Spring Ave NE, Grand Rapids.

We sometimes (rarely) need to find an alternative venue if either church is busy and using their facilities. Contact Pete Walen to confirm the upcoming practice location schedule.
